How to Apply - Middle School

A student/parent interview is required for all admission candidates to Grades 6 and 7, and must be completed by January 15. Candidates, and their parents or guardians, are invited to campus for a tour with a current middle school parent, followed by an interview with an admission counselor. Please allow 90 minutes for this appointment.

You may schedule your student/parent tour and interview through your Ravenna portal starting in September.

To best meet the needs of our families, we are also offering limited virtual interviews via Zoom. Starting in September, please call the Lower and Middle School Admission Office, at 617-898-2509, to schedule a virtual interview.

*Appointments fill up quickly, so we encourage you to schedule your visit as soon as possible. Families with more than one applicant should only sign up for one appointment slot.*

Create an Account

To begin, you will need to either log into your Ravenna Hub portal, or create a new account. Once logged in, you will see a list of “Application Steps”, describing all of the Milton Academy Admission required elements. You can check back as often as you wish to see an updated list of materials we have received and items that have been checked off. Through the Ravenna hub you can:

• Manage your application
• Initiate requests for recommendations and school reports
• Schedule a Tour/Interview, as well as register for other relevant events
• View decision letter on March 10

While we encourage families to begin the application process before the deadline, completed applications are due by January 15, 2026.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $65 for domestic applicants and $125 USD for international applicants must be submitted online, along with your application, using Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Fee waivers are available if the fee represents a financial hardship for your family. Please contact the Lower and Middle School Admission Office for details.

Report Cards

In your Ravenna portal, you will be able to authorize the release of academic records from the current and past year to your applicant’s school/s.

Recommendations (requests submitted via Ravenna)

1.  School Administrator Recommendation

• Submit evaluation request to your child’s principal, head of school or guidance/placement counselor

2.  Submit recommendation requests to your child’s classroom teacher(s):

• Current English Teacher Recommendation
• Current Mathematics Teacher Recommendation

3.  Submit requests for the following optional recommendations:

• Special Interest Recommendation – Arts
• Special Interest Recommendation – Athletics
• Supplemental Recommendation

Applicants for Grades 6 and 7 are required to submit results of the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Applicants should register for and take one of these tests by January 15, and scores should be sent directly to Milton Academy. 

Students applying for Grade 6 should take the Lower Level ISEE or the Middle Level SSAT. Students applying to Grade 7 should take the Middle Level for both the SSAT or ISEE exam. 

The SSAT school code for Milton Academy is 5098 and the ISEE school code for Milton Academy is 221430. Please note that the test must be taken within the same academic year in which the student is applying. This window is between August and January. 

For applicants for whom English is not their first language, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL Jr.) is required. The TOEFL Jr. school code for Milton Academy is 8125. The TOEFL Jr. does not take the place of the SSAT or ISEE.
