Access to Milton Academy’s athletic and outdoor facilities has long been part of our relationship with the town of Milton, reducing the town’s need to build or maintain additional recreation and park areas. Town youth sports—including lacrosse, softball, and ice hockey—have usage agreements with the school that together comprise hundreds of hours.

Outdoor access to the school’s track and fields, playgrounds, and tennis courts are provided for free. 

Use of other facilities including the ice rink and basketball courts is provided on a fee basis, typically discounted, to community organizations. 

The school also operates the Nesto Gallery, which hosts six professional art shows annually (visual arts exhibitions and events), and the Performing Arts Department typically plans four main-stage productions, a dance concert, and three studio plays each year. All events are free and open to the public. 

Astronomy students use the Ayer Observatory to observe and study celestial objects. The observatory’s 12-foot dome houses a five-inch Clark refractor for general classroom use; its smaller dome houses a 9-inch Takahashi reflector. The Observatory is made available to town residents on many Friday nights throughout the year.

Since 1977, the Saturday Course has brought academically-advanced students in grades 4-8 to Milton Academy’s campus for an enrichment learning experience. The program utilizes our school’s physical and academic resources to benefit students from the town of Milton and other surrounding communities. Courses offered will feature long-running favorites including Make Your Own City, Darkroom Photography,  and Trial Court, as well as new classes like Eat Your Way Around the World and Unlock Your Inner Magic. Faculty are drawn from Milton Academy and other local schools. 

Milton Academy Summer Camp offers a multitude of experiences for students through grade 7 (with counselor-in-training opportunities for grades 8 and 9). From art and games to coding and swimming, the school’s camps offer something for every child. Milton Academy also runs a variety of specialty summer camps, primarily for students entering grades 4-8, allowing them the opportunity to learn new skills and explore certain interests more deeply. Speciality camps are taught and coached by Milton academy faculty and coaches and after school program staff.

Milton Academy proudly supports a greener community by offering access to our electric vehicle (EV) charging stations—not just for our students and staff, but for town residents as well. If you drive an EV, you’re welcome to use any of the 14 charging spaces available across our campus. Please note that certain lots are not open overnight.

You’ll find charging stations in the following locations:

• Facilities Lot – 3 stations (6 parking spaces)
   
• Pool Lot – 2 stations (4 parking spaces)
   
• Pritzker Science Center Lot – 2 stations (4 parking spaces)

Each charging station supports two EVs at a time, and the spots are clearly marked with a green rectangle and a car icon to make them easy to find. We ask that only actively charging vehicles park in these designated spots. This ensures everyone who needs to charge can access the stations and helps the school meet Massachusetts regulations for public EV charging.
