A fun and challenging academic enrichment program for students in Grades 4–8.

For nearly 50 years, The Saturday Course at Milton Academy has provided academically advanced students in Grades 4–8 with opportunities to explore challenging subjects, discover new passions, and learn alongside equally curious peers from across Greater Boston.

Each Saturday from 8:30am-1pm, independently motivated students come to our campus eager to think deeply, create boldly, and engage with ideas that inspire them. Taught by Milton faculty, courses cover a wide range of subjects, from math and creative writing, to technology and woodworking, enabling academically advanced students to dive deeply into topics and spark their imagination.

Today, over 1,000 students from 125 public schools throughout the Boston area come to experience a very special educational experience: where intellectual curiosity is celebrated and learning feels joyful. At The Saturday Course, we foster a lifelong love of learning in a fun, exciting environment.

Enrollment

Enrollment for the upcoming school year opens in August, and we welcome both returning and new students. Participating school districts select students to register for courses, and families from other communities are invited to apply for admission. Returning students will receive enrollment details by email.

We’re committed to making The Saturday Course accessible to all qualified students; generous support from Milton Academy’s operating budget and private donors allows us to offer financial aid to families who need it.

Applying to The Saturday Course

Each fall, we give participating schools registration forms for new 4th grade students. Students who do not attend an affiliated school or district are encouraged to apply.

To complete an application, you’ll need:

A completed application form

A teacher recommendation

Copies of a report card and MCAS or standardized test scores

Our traditional entry level is grade four, but we accept applications for students from any grade 4-8.
